Helicoptering & Sites

We got up bright snd early for our helicopter ride across the island. We were particularly thrilled to do this because there is so much of Kaua'i you cannot see unless you fly over...the Nepali coastline.

We were so many excited to start our day with this:

And, according to Mimi, Cade is also particularly excited about our helicopter and trip:

We arrived there so early this morning....ready for our door-free adventure:

It was a little nerve wrecking and a lot stomach churning in the end...but, wow, I've never done anything like it. We flew into an old volcano, Wai'ale'ale Crater

Here are some photos:

These don't really do it justice...it was an amazing ride!

Other highlights of today include stopping to see Wailua Waterfall. At over 120 feet high, it's taller than Niagra Falls:

We attempted to visit Queen's Bath, an amazing "swimming pool" in the ocean made of lava rock. We weren't able to get to it as there were too many cars parked at the trailhead. It's close to our hotel so we decided to try again later.

However, after asking the concierge and the pool guy about it, we've decided it's probably not the best idea. Apparently, there have been several fatalities there from crushing waves, and the hotel really discourages people from going.

So...we hung out on the beach instead:

I'm super exhausted after dinner at the Dolphin in Hanalei, so I think I'll turn in at 8 am. Nepali catamaran early in the am!
