Having a Great Time in Urbana

We are having a great time with Ellie, Zoe and Martina in Urbana. Lyla is so happy to be with the girls that she gets up extra early every morning and isn't very interested in napping. She's having a great time:

Surprise!!

Look what I found when I went in to get Lyla up this morning - and she did it all by herself!! I was a little surprised to see her sitting up - definitely not what I'm used to...time to lower the crib.

She's excited about our trip to Urbana today!! :) We can't wait to see Zoe and Ellie!!

Bathing Cuties

Not much time to post, but we wanted to share some pics of Lyla and Liam enjoying their very first beach vacation. We have discovered that Lyla loves the water, and Lyla and Liam love each other. They held hands at dinner the other night. :)

Lyla particularly loves the lazy river and her pool float. She's made several new friends at the pool each day and loves talking and waving at everyone as she floats along.

More pics to come, but here are a few of our pool adventures:

Social Butterfly

Lyla loved dinner last night and lunch yesterday - Lance and I had to redirect her to eat as she was much more interested in flirting with a 12 year old boy and talking to a woman who was trying to enjoy her wine.

She loves new people!

We've arrived in Myrtle Beach safely and are excited about Lyla's first beach adventure. Pics to follow...

Lyla Q.'s Hands

Lyla is becoming better each day with using her hands to communicate. She's been waving for awhile, and she is pointing on a regular basis now. Just this week, she started clapping her hands. Now Daddy is working with her on "Gimme 5!"

We love it! :)

Our Cincy Adventure

Today, we travelled north to Cincinnati with Ari and Rand - we had a great time visiting the Cincinnati Childrens' Museum. Rand and Lyla were both delighted by the Little Sprouts section of the museum, especially designed for infants through 4 year-olds. It was perfect for them both.

While the museum was well worth visiting, we had a horribly eventful ride home. Unfortunately, there was a fatal accident on I-71 which caused us to have to detour to Lexington to return to Louisville via I-64. After stopping for dinner and finally hitting I-64, we were shocked to encounter yet another accident on I-64. All in all, the hour and a half ride home evolved into a 5 hour drive with Rand and Lyla in the back seat.

Rand and Lyla did a good job together - we noticed Rand taking Lyla's hand several times to comfort her. Needless to say, all four of us were relieved to return to Louisville exactly 12 hours after we left.

Here are a few of my favorite pics from the day: (Note the Baby Faces book Lyla is clutching in the backseat - her current favorite. Thanks, Marmie, for sending it back! :) )

What an adventure!

Happy 4th, Rand! We love you!!

Unfortunately, we missed our godson Rand's 4th birthday party because of Shana's birthday celebration in Nashville. However, it gave us a good excuse to have another party for him. We all had a great time in spite of the sweltering heat. We had Pie Kitchen ice cream, one of our favorites - Rand loved the Milky Way flavor and his monster cookie. He and Uncle Lance had a great time playing in some very hot closet caves all evening.

We're looking forward to hearing about all the new games he's going to get with his i-Tunes card. We hope Aunt Cheese and Aunt Bleu have plenty of memory space on their phones!

Here are some pics - this beautiful boy doesn't take a bad pic!! :)

Happy 4th, Rand!! We love you so much!!

Nashvegas: Happy Birthday Auntie Shana!!

This weekend we travelled south to Nashville for a weekend celebrating Auntie Shana's 35th Birthday. We had such a good time - Lyla loves hanging out with the girls. She pushed herself to new limits all weekend - not wanting to stop for naps or much sleeping - she didn't want to miss a thing.

The weekend started with hanging out at Aunt Shana's and Uncle Robbie's. We loved checking out their new patio and garden and enjoyed dancing to a little Michael Jackson in Shana's living room:

On Saturday afternoon, we went to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts for the Golden Age of Couture exhibit. After lunch, we had a great time looking through the exhibit, although Lyla Q. slept for most of it in her stroller.

On Saturday night, we had dinner at Rosepepper's in Shana's & Robbie's neighborhood. We had a great dinner and at Aunt Shana's request (actually, demand would probably be a more descriptive word), no one sang Happy Birthday in public.

After dinner, we had Betty Boop birthday cake compliments of a fabulous pastry chef Mandy has befriended. We all enjoyed Mandy's account of the great deal got on the cake - I only wish I could post video of it on our blog. :)

This morning, we had a fabulous (and I mean FABULOUS) breakfast at Monell's. We loved the family style breakfast and there was absolutely no breakfast food this place didn't serve. It was heaven!! We were also able to meet up with my friend Jonna, who has a baby of her own coming in February! :)

We had a great weekend and feel so blessed to have such wonderful family surrounding us. Happy Birthday, Aunt Shana! We love you!!
