Cookout at Jeremy & Amy's

In other events this weekend, we went to a cookout at Jeremy and Amy's in Oldham County. We had a great time seeing everyone's babies - and Lyla had fun hanging out with Cara, who is just a few days older than her. It was a very hot evening, but we all had fun anyway.

Lyla got to spend time with Liam, Isabella and Erin. She stayed up pretty late and was happy to do so, but she slept all the way home and went straight to bed after all the fun with her friends.

Here are some pics of the babies:

A Visit From Auntie Tevan

It's been a busy weekend for Lyla Q. She had a visit from Auntie Tevan, and she got to hang out with our good friends Lana and Kali. Marmie also came to Louisville to visit with Aunt Nancy.

Lyla's been watching 4 year-old Kali's every move - trying to get around. We've seen her attempting to get up on all fours this weekend, but her primary mode of movement right now is still rolling all across the floor to get to where she needs to go.

Lyla and Kali enjoyed playing with all of Lyla's toys together and spent some time with a Dora castle bestowed upon us by one of Lance's friends in Cincinnati. Tevan and Lana were able to go out for Lana's 30th, and I watched Kali for the night. We had a great time with Kali and a visit from one of Lance's long time friends Matt and his family. Tev & Lana had a great time, and Kali did well with me - she just got scared once during the night :).

My First Balloon

Lyla was so excited with the clerk at Kroger gave her a helium balloon this afternoon. She was so excited, in fact, that she insisted on carrying it in between her two little arms as we walked into the house after our grocery trip. I tied it to her jumperoo and she enjoyed playing with it all afternoon.

I love watching her discover things.

Homemade Blueberry Breakfast

Today, Lyla enjoyed some homemade baby food - nectarine and blueberry puree made by Mommy. I think she liked it:

A Mall Date with Isabella

It was a great day for Lyla - she spent much of the day at the mall with her cousin Isa. Both the girls dangled their feet in the water momentarily - I think Isa liked it a little more than Lyla.

Lyla was particularly happy with new socks from Grandma Hottman - see pics below.

A Visit with Hollie

One of the best things about being back in Louisville is being so much closer to our family and friends. Lyla and I hung out with Hollie tonight, and she helped us with bathtime. We're already looking forward to seeing her again very soon.

An Afternoon With the Girls

Lyla enjoyed her afternoon hanging out with Emily and Abby today at our good friend Sarah's house. She had such an exciting time that she fell asleep in the car less than two minutes after we left for home.

It's so amazing to see our kids growing up together - it really is great to be back in Louisville! We love you, Sar.

Today was another day of movement for Lyla - she's really working on getting across the floor, one way or the other. She's a very fast roller right now, and tonight she was particularly thrilled with her abililty to kick the closet door with her little leg, making it move all by herself.

I think the baby proofing should start sooner than later...

Finally!

Thanks, Grandma Hottman! Finally a mini water bottle made just for me!

Peas, Peas

We're giving Lyla a new toy to play with and it's keeping her very busy and occupied. She's still trying to figure out how to get those tiny little peas from her tray to her mouth. We love watching her think it over:

Our Week

It makes me laugh when I think about how much busier we are now that we've moved to Louisville. Lyla's days are filled with a lot of cool people every day - this has been another good week.

On Tuesday, she got to spend some quality time with Marmie, who came up for the day. She enjoyed playing with her iPhone, and I think she's going to beg for one of her own as soon as she can speak. :)

On Wednesday, she had the pleasure of finally meeting three year-old Violet, the daughter of one of my oldest and dearest friends, Tara. We were both thrilled to meet her and get to spend some time getting to know her. We can't wait to see her again soon. I'm relieved that Dr. Violet gave me a clean bill of health after her exam.

And, on Thursday, Lyla met my good friend, Wynna. As usual, it didn't take long for Lyla to make a friend of her own.

Lyla's New Favorite Toy

Despite our attempt to buy Lyla a new toy today designed to help her gross motor development, she decided she preferred Daddy's Coke bottle. She went into breakdown mode when he tried to snag it from her for a drink.

Next time, I think we'll skip the toy and just buy her a bottle of water. :)

Sunday Night = Lyla's First Baseball Game!

Thanks to Uncle Scottie and Aunt Ang, Lyla unexpectedly got to attend the Riverbats game tonight with Liam. She loved the game and, in classic fashion, made herself stay awake through the entire evening so that she didn't miss a thing. She was particuarly interested in the game, the clapping, Lily's beautiful curls (see pic) and of, of course, Liam.

Needless to say, she slept all the way home and slept in this morning until 9:30, a new record!

Here are pics:

Somebody REFUSED to let go of Daddy's water bottle after the game!
