Family Trip to Cinci

We took an overnight trip to Cinci this weekend - we had such a good time that I didn’t take many pictures. It’s worth blogging about, though, because it was Lyla’s first time back to her birthplace, and she is fascinated by the city. She couldn’t wait to tell everyone that she had visited the city where she was born, which is different than where Cade was born. Ha!

We visited the Children’s Museum, which is totally worth the drive. The museum is so awesome that it makes me miss living there. It was wonderful for both kids.

Then, we spent the night and swam indoors - and there’s just nothing like swimming indoors with your kids in the middle of winter. We had the entire pool to ourselves, and we all had a great time.

Lyla & Cade were thrilled to eat “cookiewiches” in bed for dessert. It really is the little things, and I absolutely love it.

On Saturday, we got up and went the aquarium on our way out of town. Cade was more interested in the cafe, which he dubbed the “Coffaeee”, but Lyla made a fascinating partner to accompany me through the museum. She had lots of insightful statements that made the other patrons laugh a little (she seriously insisted that the eel was tricking all of us…he must be so smooth that he’s actually good to cuddle with”), and she is serious about tracking down hand sanitizer as needed.

And, even with her growth spurt these days and long legs…she is still only a small fraction of the size of the huge crocodile they have at the aquarium.

Lyla was also thrilled to see the house we brought her home to when she was a baby - we were happy that it was still standing, as it remains a bit crooked. I shed a couple of tears, admittedly. I just can’t believe she’s 5 and old enough to comprehend that this is where she lived when she was a baby.

It’s so cliche, but wow, time flies.
