Stanley Park is Amazing

Stanley Park is over 1000 acres of beach and absolute beauty. I can’t believe people get to live here and enjoy it all the time. It’s just a phenomenal place. Time and energy allowed us to visit English Bay Beach, the Totem Poles and to stroll around a bit of the Sea Wall. We could spend 3 days in there and not see it all. The weather is fantastic, and the day was just perfect. We even logged a couple of geocaches.

Here are a few of our favorites:

The Beach was much colder than it appears...I don’t know how they were able to do it. They acted like they were in the Carribean.

“If I find gold, I’ll tell you.”

Lyla loved hanging out with Daddy in the water:

Cade insisted on burying a $1 in the sand...he’s really interested in the Gold Rush and was hoping to find some leftover gold in the sand.

It was a long trek back to the hotel, but we made it:

Next, we headed to the Totem Poles at Stanley, where we also did a little geocaching.

This one resulted in a small conflict about who was going to keep one of the treasures in the box, which made us realize it was time for a rest.

A fantastic, beautiful day with my favorite people in the world.

Here are a couple from last night I didn’t post.

Dinner with my favorite girl:

Tomorrow, we board the ship! Eeeek!!!

Capilano Bridge and Granville

I wasn’t able to update last night...we were all exhausted from traveling. Kids played in the pool before walking briefly around the hotel neighborhood. They said the pool was cold, but they loved it anyway.

Today’s first adventure was Capilano Suspension Bridge. It was a really fun time, walking through the treetops, and the Bridge swayed so much that you still felt like you were swaying when you got off:

The kids had some soft serve:

And then they solved the Capilano Scavenger Hunt, very serious business:

Successful completion!

We finished the day with a trip to Grandville Island, which is probably the biggest tourist trap in all of Vancouver. Nonetheless, we loved dinner on the water, and the kids were so excited to spot a seal:

We’re so proud of how much fun the kids are having in Vancouver. They handled some of the travails of travel today so well, including a shuttle that broke down, causing our afternoon plans to change; a promised trip to an arcade that closed earlier than expected...they’re both such troopers, finding a Kinder surprise egg (without nuts or eggs!) in every situation!

Looking forward to tomorrow’s adventures!

Next Leg of the Journey

Cade discovered his walkie talkie didn’t work for calling Brady, but he settled for FaceTime at the airport.

And, now many hours later, we’ve finally boarded for Vancouver! Cade was super excited to purchase a souvenir spoon in Chicago and Lyla got this fox, her current favorite animal.

Favorite quotes so far:

As the plane taxied down the runway, Cade: “Mommy, are we just going to drive like this or will be go in the air?”

After receiving ice water from the flight attendant, Cade: “That’s the best water I’ve ever had!”

Alaska Bound!

We’re on our way!! Flight leaves at 9:50 for Chicago, then Vancouver later today. Cade has packed his walkie talkie so he and Brady can see if it works from Alaska...
