Lyla has easily adjusted to a later bedtime, with alone reading time right before bed, and she sleeps until well after 9. It's Heaven, really. I absolutely love having her home. I love listening to her read at night. She still reads aloud to herself, and she's immersed in the Ivy + Bean series. She wants to read it all by herself.
Cade loves being out of school too. He loves our new pool membership, and loves being outside looking for ants and inspecting the "Bad Guys'" work (our lawn service).
He's planted a little garden of carrots and beans. He's so proud of the farming progress:
Yesterday, we had our first swim date at Rand's. Unfortunately, he was at camp, but we had so much fun hanging out with Aunt Chz anyway. Cade was so happy to get a water gun today.
And, today, we had a playdate with Lyla's kindergarten friend, Mya. Mya broke her arm right before school was out, but she was so excited to come play with Lyla. They built a fort with Cade in the basement:
We're looking so forward to our upcoming Beach vacation trip to Destin and the neighborhood cookout. The only things to make the summer sweeter: lightening bugs and cicadas.
