A Fall Visit from NaeNah and Mimi

It was a beautiful Fall weekend - Kentucky introduction to cooler air, red and yellow leaves and a just a hint of end of the year excitement in the air. The windows are open, the breezes cool and airy…the perfect time to spend some time with Aunt NaeNah, Mimi and spiced tea. 

Shana and Mimi arrived Friday afternoon, just in time to get some sewing projects started with Lyla. She worked on this owl all afternoon, and I can’t believe how well she’s taken to sewing. She loves every minute of it, and she’s so proud of the work she has done so far. 

Cade was excited to receive a big box of moon sand from Aunt NaeNah and has been playing in it all weekend - he particularly loves running his trucks through big mountains. Mimi said it kept him occupied for a full hour on Saturday afternoon while we were out with Lyla. 

Lyla is playing soccer this Fall, and she had team pictures this weekend. It was great to have NaeNah and Mimi there to cheer her on…especially since she’s not the happiest about playing this Season anymore. Only 3 more games after this one….

The Tigers lost today, but it didn’t matter because it was so good to have NaeNah and Mimi at the game. 

After, Lyla was thrilled to go to the fabric store with Mommy and Aunt NaeNah for some “girl time”. She picked out a birthday party dress that Aunt NaeNah is going to sew for her in time for her November birthday. We are so excited about it!

Lyla insisted that Aunt NaeNah sit in the back seat with her en route to help her with her owl project: 

Of course, Lyla chose purple fabric for her dress…perfection. We can’t wait to see the finished product!

Great weekend with great family. So glad they were here and so sad to see them leave this afternoon. 

Soccer Game with Aunt Baby! (& Spider)

Today was an extra special soccer game because we had Mimi, Aunt NaeNah AND Aunt Baby in attendance (along with Baby Spider, as we affectionately refer to her growing bump). 

Cade was happy to be there…the weather was so beautiful all weekend. We were so happy about that for Aunt Baby, who left sweltering temps in Houston to visit: 

Lyla was not the most enthusiastic player today, looking up at me at one point and telling me she didn't want to play anymore. I think she was very tired from the weekend's events - it's just so exciting to have everyone at our house that sometimes it's hard to go to bed at night. This girl loves her aunties!

I'm proud to report that she labored through, playing through a game that was difficult as the other team had several stars, making us laughingly wonder if they were really 3!

A Visit From Aunt NaeNah

We were so thrilled to have a whole weekend with Aunt NaeNah for Labor Day weekend. Lyla & Cade never wanted her to leave! The weekend started with a Treasure Hunt, with special clues and hints for them both.

Lyla was in deep thought about where to go for her next clue. She loved this game.

The Treasure Hunt culminated in special treasure chests for both Lyla & Cade. Cade's was found on the swing set, and Lyla's on Alligator Rock, of course. 

Cade was so happy to have a treasure chest of his own: 

Lyla's first words after finding her treasure: "I want to do it again, Aunt NaeNah!"

We were so happy for Aunt NaeNah (a founding member of our high school's women's soccer team) to provide some soccer tutelage for Lyla. Here she is teaching Lyla to do a victory cheer after scoring a goal: 

And, what weekend with Aunt NaeNah could be complete without a naked breakfast right before sending her off to Nashville?
